Green light for ‘Bentaleb’ to return to training

Lille have revealed that Nabil Bentaleb has been cleared to return to training after suffering a cardiac arrest in June last year.

The 30-year-old suffered the attack while playing football with friends, required CPR and was inserted into a defibrillator before being taken to hospital.

However, Lille have now revealed that Bentaleb has now been cleared to return to training, although it is not yet clear when exactly.

Bentaleb had a spell at Tottenham Hotspur, followed by a move to Schalke and a brief loan spell at Newcastle United before

It’s an extraordinary recovery for the Algerian international after he suffered a cardiac arrest during a five-a-side session with friends last June. A defibrillator was used and CPR was administered to him at the time.

Bentaleb was admitted to the Lille University Hospital following the incident.

His club, Lille OSC, have now announced that he has been medically cleared and is therefore able to return to the pitch. When that will happen remains unclear.

Born and raised in Lille, France, he has represented Algeria and represented them at the 2014 World Cup.
